Twitter’s decision to block former U.S. President Donald Trump’s account following the Capitol riots in January 2021, quickly followed by other social media, has caused much debate. Some people cheered while others cried “censorship!” But how did Dorsey, Zuckerberg, and others act? Was their action justified? How can freedom of expression be protected? And how can we stop the spread of fake news on the web? We asked Giulia Bistagnino, Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Milan.
